| Can anyone suggest where to find good quality tires for a reasonable price? I’m in Fairfax. Thx! |
| I got Michelins for my Prius at Costco. Love them. |
| I can't tell you how many times I have run into a curb, got a flat tire, and had it replaced for like 18 dollars. Well I can, it was twice. Anyway, go to Costco. They replace tired based on how much tread is left and they rotate for free. Sometimes you can gt good deals if you buy a whole set. It's worth the price of a membership |
| Alban tires is the only place to go. |
+1 |
| Tirerack dot com, ship to your local installer of your choice. |
This is where I would go too. I have Costco tires that seem messed up (always leaking air & light coming on) and I’m gonna have to take them to Alban to see what’s up. |

do not cheap on the tires if you expect to maintain your MPGS.
I have a ford cmax hybrid , and I got nearby 70K miles out of my factory michelein low rolling resistance energy savers tires. with great MPG know that that i wasn't going to hold on to the car for another 70K miles. I went with a lower priced tire. my MPGs have suffered. 10% less than what I was getting before the tire change. |
LRRT's are pathetic for traction, especially wet traction. A tire hard enough to last 70K miles is so hard it's bordering on the edge of being dangerous. I'll gladly take a softer tire with better traction (and therefore safer) at the expense of mileage. |
also keep in mind that you aren't taking a prius out on a track for a spirited drive. only within the last 10K miles of the tire did I notice that my traction started to suffer. but that would be the case in any vehicles as your tread depth is lower = less traction during inclement weather. Bordering on on dangerous. nah.. but again, I'm not going out doing slalom runs and autocrossing the car. id venture to say that most of the people driving never even come close to testing the threshold of their tires grip. they chicken out long before the tires stop working. I used to race a semi prepared car on road courses, and the car was street legal and it was amazing has to how well a 50K mile street tire performed when compared to a track tire. |
