I'm just barely 4 weeks pregnant, but I think my supply has already taken a hit. I'm not pumping anymore, so I can't really tell, but they never have that "full" feeling anymore and DS seems to be complainaing. Is it possible it has affected my supply already? Anyone else been here? Is it temporary, will it come back?

My production dipped a bit as well. I just kept nursing as much as DD needed, and supply met up with demand.
Out of curiousity how old is your DS? |
He's 23 months, so I'm not worried about any loss in nutrients and we only nurse morning and evening, but he's complaining "more milk, more milk." I was surprised because I've never had supply issues. I would be fine if he weaned himself, but he seems inclined to keep sucking even when nothing comes, which isn't terribly comfortable. Thanks for your response. |
My supply dipped around 5-6 weeks after getting pg, and it never recovered. It just kept dwindling. Now that I'm 25 weeks pg, I am not producing milk at all. However, my 22 month dd still nurses once or twice a day. It is dry nursing, and isn't the most comfortable sensation in the world, but I am planning to tandem nurse if she wants to. I think it will help my milk come in and also I might be having a preemie, so I think if she is still nursing, it could actually be helpful. I am hoping my colostrum comes in soon to relieve some of the discomfort of nursing. We are giving her bottles of milk with 1/2 toddler formula and 1/2 soy milk since she still wants milk. |
PP have you read "The Adventures in Tandem Nursing"? It's a good book, and will prepare you nicely.
OP I got the impression at LLL that women who got pregnant, while having older nursling's, did dry up more than those with younger nurslings. I only went four months between pregnancies. I was the first one to reply, but that's why I had asked the age of your child. |
