Restaurant and other public scenes on reality shows

I always wondered why, in reality shows, the people will be somewhere like a restaurant and other customers are not coming up to them asking for autographs or asking to meet them. I figured it was because the other people in the restaurant already knew they would be coming in and were told not to say anything or they were somehow actors or people who worked for let’s say bravo. But then in the last few real housewives Of orange county episodes, Tamra talked about how she was out at a restaurant with Shannon and someone who saw them they are recorded part of their conversation. I guess it’s possible that the crew wasn’t Filming that day but that wasn’t the sense that I got. Anyone know?

Obviously when they walk into a store, the store employees know they are coming especially since there’s no reaction from them and additionally, the camera angle often shoot them from The angle of showing inside the store Through the glass door as the characters walking in meaning the camera crew is already in the store set up before they walk in.

I’ve wondered this, too, especially in the scenes where they are all screaming at each other. I am assuming the people there know and have to sign some sort of release in advance, but I also wonder if they are actual paying customers.

I did notice once when they were in a store - I think it was RHOBH - the door to the store had a lock on it. Someone was trying to leave and they had to stop to get out. And there’s rarely any other customers.

A friend’s boutique in Baltimore was a shooting scene for a reality pilot. One “shopper” was actually my DD. The others were similarly fake —friends and relatives of the owners. Everyone had to sign releases. It was filmed on a day they were normally closed and there was security outside the door to keep new (i.e. real) shoppers from entering.

it's all fake and everyone signs releases.

If it’s fake then how did someone film tamara’s conversation with Shannon and post it on the internet?

One of the assistants at the hair salon I go to is married to a restaurant manager. The owner of that restaurant is friends with someone involved with the RH franchise. They arrange ahead of time to do shoots at the restaurant, and there is a lot of control over the patrons and environment. Friends and family are called in to be in the background and serve as diners who don’t interfere with filming.

Lol at anything being “real.”

All of these shows are 100% scripted and fake. Your IQ drops an average of 3 points for each hour spent watching.

It is all fake but that doesn't mean that someone who volunteered or was hired as an extra didn't still record a conversation they shouldn't have.

The space gets set up with lights and cameras and there is a crew there filming. Everyone has to sign a waiver and the scene is set up hours before it happens.

Most of these dramas are contrived to drive people to the show to find out what happens. It is all publicity.
