Is it true that some offices do this?

I was reading the book, "What to expect when expecting" and I was surprised to learn that most routine prenatal tests include a drug test via urine sample or blood. It said it is usually done in the first visit. I read this book with my previous pregnancy and I must not have read that part. I could care less if they do drug test (I think it's a great idea for the sake of the baby) because I've never done drugs. I was just surprised. It's sad that offices have to drug test too. I can't imagine doing drugs while carrying a baby.
I guess this was more of a statement than a question.
