Had an appt with my RE yesterday as I finished three rounds of letrozole, ovidrel and TI and unfortunately none worked. I had great results each month with my follicle size(s) and lining but unfortunately we just didn’t conceive. She told me today that she will approve three more cycles and we can decide if we want to do IUI or just keep doing TI. Since my husbands semen analysis was great, she said she doesn’t think IUI will make much of a difference but it’s up to us. She also said if three more cycles don’t work, we will discuss IVF which I was kind of shocked about.
I’m 31 and I have PCOS and don’t ovulate on my own but everything else is great as far as my numbers and all that. Just curious how many rounds of this others have done? She seemed optimistic that one of these next 3 cycles will work for us so I guess we will see. |
6 times. It didn’t work. First round of IVF was successful. I’d give it 3 tries and then move on. Don’t waste too much time. |
Op here: that’s pretty much what she told me. I have PCOS so she said she’s fine with her a PCOS patients doing 6 rounds of letrozole with TI or IUI but then next steps after that would be IVF. |
| I did 2 rounds with clomid (1 cancelled due to overresponse) followed by 4 rounds of Letrozole. All with IUI, and all Letrozole cycles producing 2 or 3 mature follicles each. DH always had great numbers; our only issue was my PCOS. We eventually moved on to IVF and were successful on our first FET. I wish we had moved on sooner. |
| Only issue for me was PCOS. First child, letrozole/IUI worked on first try. Currently pregnant with second (6 failed IUIs/letrazole, first IVF transfer worked). Wish we went to IVF sooner. |
| I did a few rounds of clomid, has a reaction (visual disturbances), and switched to letrozole. Did 7 total IUIs (1 out of pocket and 6 covered). If it hasn't worked after 3 tries, move on! My first round of IVF was a success but that is because I did PGS testing-- the embryos from the first retrieval looked "perfect" but all had abnormalities under the microscope and my first frozen embryo transfer with PGS normal embryos worked. Good luck! I was in my late 30s so I wish I hadn't wasted so much time and money with TI and IUIs. Good luck! |
| I second what prior commenters are saying. We did several IUIs and by the end I wish I’d just moved to IVF sooner to cut down the emotional rollercoaster |
| First kid, two rounds of letrozole + TI. Second kid, one round of letrozole + ovidrel + TI. |
