Making thanksgiving fun as a solo parent

Anonymous
I’ll be alone with my three children this Thanksgiving. My husband has to work. We were going to going over a friends house, but my youngest caught a stomach bug. She has turned the corner today, but in effort to not spread it, I think it best to stay at our house on Thursday. My kids are 9, 7, and 3. I don’t have any food planned. I’m thinking doing a turkey breast and letting them pick their favorite sides. What else can I do to make things a bit more fun and festive?

bake cookies or pies with them, do thanksgiving crafts, watch the parade, rent a fun movie.

Create a scavenger hunt where each person needs to collect a rock, stick, colored leaves, etc...
Go to a park that you usually don’t go to or have wanted to go to play.
Stay in pajamas all day.
Do some crafts.
Decorate for Christmas.
Do storytime with Thanksgiving books.
