| 4 Democrat retirements in purple districts, and now a defection. For a party on life support 12 months ago, the GOP is looking amazingly healthy right now. It remains to be seen whether Griffith can survive GOP primary challengers, but is sure interesting. |

| I don't know. It's now what, 257-178 in the hosue? And the defection is a conservative district in Alabama? I'm not sure the party gets very far if these are their big inroads. |
