Southampton Tourney looks much stronger this year than last year, and better overall than the new Nation's Cup, at least for U11s and U12s. Lots of teams coming south to play.
Nation's Capital was mostly just VA, with some OK MD teams. Flop? Maybe: 1) Bethesda http://events.gotsport.com/events/Default.aspx?eventid=72823 2) Southampton http://events.gotsport.com/events/Default.aspx?eventid=71104 3) Nations Capital Cup http://events.gotsport.com/events/Default.aspx?eventid=70919 4) Columbia Fall Classic https://www.elitetournaments.com/tournament/columbia-fall-classic-boys Others tourneys not on my radar? |
Southhampton tournament is stronger than Bethesda in U12 boys this year. U12 Southampton has Arlington’s first team- pre-DA Academy and many top MD teams like Baltimore Celtics that are #2 in MD. |
You're nuts on the boys side. Top U12 in Bethesda had Loudoun, VDA/PWSI, Javanon, Bethesda, Alexandria, all of whom would spank Arlington's top team, which has won one or two games all year. (Oh yeah, that Arlington team was in the Bethesda Cup too, where Richmond beat it 5-1 and Loudoun beat it 1-0). Baltimore Celtic is neither #2 nor in Boys U12. I don't know what you are talking about. |
| ^That Arlington preDA team is their top team, correct? Why are they doing so poorly? I thought they had a huge player pool. |
1-8 in EDP. Does that mean they drop out of the Developmental league? EDP is pro/rel. How can they be granted DA next year? They can’t compete against that level. |
Yes, and they do have a large player pool. But I would not judge their development based solely on results. They have extraordinarily tough competition. The U12 coaches have a lot of ground to make up for how their red teams tend to be coached at younger ages. |
Yes. U12 is usually the age when teams/players that were developed pull ahead while clubs/teams that just cared about winning young start to lose ground and fall behind. |

That tourney doesn't seem to have many teams at U-12. Lots of Maryland teams which is fine but it's not drawing from across the DMV.
And it has Arlington's White team in the second bracket. Can't be that competitive if their White team (which is really their 4th team after 2 DA teams) is in the second bracket. |
| Yeah. Bethesda tournament had the best competition. |
| Bethesda brackets are messed up |
+1 |
In what sense? They totally nailed the brackets for U11 boys and U12 boys. |
