Hi, I’m 5+5 today from an ivf fresh transfer and I’ve been having a lot of bleeding, but not every day. My RE brought be in for an extra beta after one day of bad bleeding and it was still doubling so they said not to worry. I had an ultrasound yesterday that was measuring right on track (still too early for a heartbeat though) and betas were still looking good. The doctor said she didn’t see a SCH or anything else. The bleeding had stopped, but this afternoon I bleed a lot, although mostly only when on the toilet and only a little gush on my pantyliner. They said it could be the ultrasound irritating me, plus the progesterone suppositories, but it seems like too much blood for that. I also still feel bloated/full from the ivf and they said my ovaries are still swollen, not sure if that could cause a bleed.
Anyways they are bringing me back again in two days because of the bleeding. So it’s either a miscarriage or another mysterious bleeding episode. I’m curious to hear if other have had heavy unexplained bleeding during pregnancy not related to a miscarriage. If so, did it continue throughout first tirmester? Or the whole pregnancy? |
| I had so much bleeding during the first trimester. Not just spotting but lots of blood, as heavy as a period. OB said it was a good sign that or was red, fresh blood and not dark, brown. Right after delivery, I had extreme bleeding too so be prepared for that if you're bleeding now. I know this sounds silly but try to relax and rest. Sending good vibes to you! |
| I had bleeding from an SCH in my first pregnancy and had a miscarriage. I had continuous and unexplained spotting throughout the first trimester of my second pregnancy which resulted in a healthy baby. The anxiety of dealing with this is terrible, and I hope you get good news. |
Thank you for sharing!! I’m trying to relax, because, at the end of the day, it will be what it will be, but the back and forth from excitement to just fear/anxiety is so hard. |
I’m sorry about your loss but I’m glad to hear your second pregnancy worked out. My doctor said she didn’t see a SCH, so I’m thinking it’s not that although the level of bleeding seems consistent with a SCH. Thanks for your understanding and good wishes! It means a lot. |
| I had no bleeding after my IVF fresh transfer. Successful pregnancy. I did have bleeding after a surprise natural BFP, so not totally the same. Regular OB said she could see on the ultrasound the random bleeding but no real cause. It eventually went away, probably by 7 weeks, and I’m 24 weeks now. She did put me on progesterone but I’m not sure if that really made a difference. Hang in there. Early bleeding is awful and stressful. I hope it resolves. |
| I had an SCH that was discovered after the heartbeat sonogram. Bleed until 12 weeks. The color was dark. A friend took birth control for the first two months of her pregnancy because she thought she was getting her period. Both full term pregnancies. When I miscarried my numbers weren't doubling, the blood started as a light flow and gradually got heavier and I had pain. Best wishes and I hope everything is okay. |

After fresh embryo transfer, the day before my first ultrasound was due, I had bleeding, clotting and clumps when I went to pee. I thought that was the end of it all, had a long shower, cried all night (it was the 9th IVF and we had decided it was our last - had one miscarriage from the second IVF).
I called in the morning to say I am not coming since I had bleeding and clotting at night. The doc told me I should have called the emergency number, asked me to come in. I went in just to get the news that I already knew. They did an ultrasound and there were 2 sacs. I was admitted and was given a blood thinning medication throughout my pregnancy. Be positive. I hope everything is okay and wish you success in your journey OP. |
Exactly the same here. Had very strong betas with both pregnancies. The first had a SCH, bleeding started at 5w5d, confirmed miscarriage at 6w5d. The second I had some bleeding again at 5w5d (and was convinced it was over), then brown spotting at 8 weeks and 11 weeks - but they never found any source of the bleeding on the sonogram. Healthy baby. It's so hard because at this point, you just don't know. But plenty of hopeful stories out there. I hope all turns out well for you! |
| Thanks all! This ended up being a miscarriage unfortunately. Now back to square one and waiting to do another egg retrieval. |
So sorry OP. Hugs to you. Stay strong and don't give up. |
