How could the 25th Amendment work for Trump?

Curious about the following:

Could Trump be declared legally incompetent? (e.g., due to mental illness and/or dementia) and thus unable to continue serving as president?

If so, would he be exempt from standing trial for crimes? (e.g., income tax issues in NY state)

If he never regains competency (e.g., because his condition remains the same or worsens), does that mean he can never stand trial for any crime?

And finally – how plausible is this situation, i.e., what do you think is the likelihood that Trump or his children or the Republicans in congress would go along with this?

I have always said the 25th applied to him better than impeachment. However the answer to your last question is NONE, so impeachment it is!

This cabinet won't 25th him. They built in enough cronies to ensure it.

But if h were 25th'd and never recovered to stand trial, it wouldn't insulate Jared, Ivanka, Junior, Eric and others in the Administration who have been committing crimes.

This cabinet is almost all in acting capacity. I don't think they can if they wanted to. Very shrewd on Trump's part but probably coincidental, because he does not have a shrewd bone in his body.

It might be better for the GOP to 25th him -- then they wouldn't have to vote on impeachment.

Plus, trump might WANT to be 25th'd --- if it meant he could avoid prison.

Yeah, and everyone laughed at Coulter when she predicted Trump would be President. This is what a I think will happen too. Very good chance that Ivanka will be our first female President. Maybe not immediately after Trump, but one day. And Trump is not going anywhere, either by 25th or impeachment. There really is no one else for a large swath of the country to vote for next year.
