DH and I are former skiers. We used to go many weekends but that was when we lived in Europe and there are such wonderful little ski villages. Great skiing, lovely little towns and wonderful Apres ski options. Does anyone have any recommendations for us?
Vail, Breckenridge, Aspen. . .
Utah. I like Alta. Nothing around here. The hills aren't big enough, you won't find any gondolas, if you go up to Vermont or Canada you'll find more icy conditions than you'll find out West.

Squaw Valley. Stowe. Tremblant.
Alta has the skiing but not the cute village. |
Stowe. We've skiid (sp?) in Switzerland, Austria and out west (Alta and Breckendridge); Stowe feels the closest to skiing in Europe. Not pretentious; great conditions (I know people says east coast skiing is icy, but we didn't experience that); fun, low-key apres ski scene; beautiful scenery.
Park City Utah has a cute town (as does Breckenridge). I love skiing in Tahoe, but did not find the town areas at Squaw and Homewood to be very quaint.
We loved Park City. Also liked Copper Mountain, though it's a little Disney-fakey.
