BCBS covered OB/GYNs at Sibley

Anonymous
Hi all,

New to the DC area, and trying to find a new OB/GYN who accepts BCBS (PPO) and practices at Sibley. From my research, I know big OB/GYN groups like Foxhall and Reiter & Hill fit this bill, but I'd much rather see a doctor in a smaller practice than a large one where any one of 10-15 doctors might delivery my baby some day, dependent on who's on call.

I'm located in McLean, so someone near here would be great, although I can be flexible on that.

Any recommendations?

BCBS PPO covers pretty much every practice here in NoVa (other than a doc that's particlularly contracted with, say, Kaiser or so), so I recommend first looking at Sibley's website for the ob's/ob groups that have privileges there, and then double checking at the BCBS website that the doctor you picked is "in network" (and they will be)

Dr. Gschwend in Bethesda. Search this site for reviews, which are mixed. But he recently saved my life and my son's, so I can't say enough about him.

I have BCBS (PPO) and have been going to Reiter Hill. I've liked the OBs but I'm not crazy about going to such a big practice. I've just made a consult appointment with Dr. Robert Footer in NW DC (New Mexico Ave) who has rave reviews, delivers at Sibley, takes BCBS, and is a solo practice (with an on-call back-up who also has rave reviews)...I'm really excited to meet with him.

i wanted small practice, sibley, BCBS...researched De Souza, R. Footer and Russell Bridges, ended up with the latter and have been very happy. All three are supposed to be good, if you want small practice. Larger practice (but not as large as RJH) that takes BCBS is Foxhall, friends have been happy there too.
