Help me plan my summer vacation

Planning a trip to the beach is taking my mind off the snow and the cold. Join me, won't you?

We are:

Six adults - one of whom isn't in a wheelchair, but has limited mobility, can walk MAYBE a block at a time.
Five kids - 8, 6, 3, 2, 1. All boys except the youngest.

We're looking at Rehoboth Beach for a week, anytime this summer, but we're debating house rental versus hotel. In a house we save on food, we can cook our own breakfast, have somewhere quiet for napping, somewhere besides a small hotel room to hang out. In a hotel (right on the boardwalk), we're close to the beach, we can park there and drive elsewhere, wander the boardwalk.

Can we get away with a 4-5 bedroom house for $2500? How far away from the beach? We could drive my father, drop off him and our stuff, then put the car back at the house and walk if it's not too far.

Thoughts?

Rent a couple condos oceanfront in Sea Colony in Bethany. I've been online today checking rates and availability myself. You can walk to the little boardwalk in Bethany from Sea Colony. When I was a kid, my folks used to rent two condos -- one for our family of 6 plus Grandma, and another for my other grandparents. We sometimes some of the kids would camp out with the other grandparents, which everyone loved. But they also liked having their quiet space to retreat to (since the 4 kids were on the wild side).

Thanks! I know Sea Colony is pretty popular. Wasn't sure if Bethany Beach had enough for the two older boys. I've only ever been to Rehoboth.
