How much time between deciding to buy and closing the deal?

Two part question:

1. How much time between deciding you are definitely buying a new (to you) car, and the car sitting in your driveway? (Including viewing/driving multiple brands and cars.)

2. How much time after choosing the make/model/trim you want and the car sitting in your driveway?

For me it’s probably 6 months/1 month but I think I’m an extreme outlier. My BIL’s family is like 1 month/2 days.

My most recent purchase was simple. I had a good idea what I wanted to buy and went on CarGuru to find the best deals in my area for a lightly used Porsche Macan. I sent the dealer an email and two days later I went to the dealership and left 90 minutes later with the car.

Pretty good. I really want to just buy one tonight and have it delivered next day. I'd even wait 2 days if I didn't have to spend any time at a dealership.
