MD Carefirst Gold and IVF copays

Anonymous
In the contract I see that IVF is not subject to the deductible if it is done at a specialist, but it is subject to the deductible if done at a "clinic." I presume this is specifically referring to the egg retrieval, culture, and transfer portions (since monitoring has separate copays). Does anyone know if these steps are considered by Shady Grove to be specialist or clinic (i.e., do you have to meet your deductible first)? Thanks!

I'm not exactly 100% what you're specifically asking, but I'll try to help. I recently went through my Carefirst account and I still have not reached my $1750 deductible. I did owe Shady Grove my deductible as a deposit, but apparently did not use it entirely. I calculated that between my monitoring Copays ($65 for imaging) and my procedures, I paid SGF a little over $2400 plus an additional $1800 for embryo freezing. If I do understand your question, the payments that went towards my deductible were only from the retrieval, transfer, and my HSG.
