Generation Xer's do you feel more similar to baby boomers or millenials?

I was born in 72, and I feel more of a connection with baby boomers than millennials. Although that could be because boomers are considered as being born up through 1964, which I think is way too late, but whatever. But culturally I feel a lot more similar to those who were born in the early 60's and even late 50's than I do with those who were born after 1980. What about other Xers, which generation do you feel more in common with?

I was born in 70 but in Europe, but here since 90s, I think I am Gen X, and nothing else. I actually don't think that either, I think I am 80s generation and don't really understand this generation thing if I am being honest.

I don't identify with either Boomers or millennial.

OP here, honestly I don't really get it either. and think it's largely B.S. But I guess culturally, I tend to feel more of a connection who those who graduated HS in the late 70's, than those who graduated after 1995, even though I graduated in 1990. I just feel like I shared more of the "same world" as them.

I don't actually identify with boomers either, but they seem more like "my people" than millennials do. I guess since generation X always gets left out of the generations debate, I feel like I tend to side more with baby boomers than millennials, although tbh I don't really "side" with anyone.

They both DRIVE ME CRAZY! But I respect Millennials more since they don't seem to be quite as narcissistic.

Currently, millennials are aged 23-38.
Gen x: 38-53
Boomers: 54-72

I was born in 74, age 45. I relate with people aged 35-55, plus a handful of people outside that range. So... More or less my own generation.
I don't relate to the boomers and older folks who bash younger people for being a product of their times, yet give them no credit for having a concrete grasp on modern technology. I know several boomers who do NOT have that outlook, and they're the ones I relate to.

1970 and millennials. My SO is a boomer (1964) and we laugh often that those six years are like 30 sometimes. SO was married and a dad when I was 13.

Also born in 72 and have hated Boomers forever.

I was born the last two weeks of '65, and given that choice, I identify more with the boomers (although not with their subset of "senior" health issues).

For me, it's probably because my parents were older when I was born, so my parents and aunts/uncles etc. all had WWII experience.

Also, I just think that growing up before the internet, and also before portable screens/phones is huge. Before all that, when you were alone, you were actually alone, no one could get ahold of you and vice-versa. No one could constantly intrude on your life during those times of the day. If you took a walk, you were focused on your walk, no distractions. If you were having a conversation with someone, it was very focused.

I have a hard time with the lack of sustained quality time; with all the interruptions. I feel like I'm often not getting a connection with people because as we sink into that "zone" of forgetting time and space and just talking, some flippin' device bleeps us out of it. Or, the second the conversation turns to an unanswered question or story, instead of parcing it out, someone decides to pull out their phone to find out or show me their dress/dog/whatever, and then, "oh, I've got a text" and there we are, in our separate worlds again.

Married with a kid at 19? Did he own his own trailer, too?

It really depends on the topic. I was born in 1974, which is closer to millennials than boomers.
I was politically active as a teenager / young adult, fighting for the environment. Millennials took that torch. Then GenZ.
I believe in healthcare for all, great public schools, and a “safety net” for when people fall on hard times. But I don’t believe in supporting someone that doesn’t attempt to work. I am for social equality. Which I think boomers are for too.
I don’t believe in publicly shaming everybody that shared or liked an “offensive” meme 10 years ago - unless it is an abundant amount over many years. Example: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/09/27/reporter-who-outed-racist-tweets-by-viral-fundraiser-leaves-des-moines-register-after-his-own-offensive-posts-surface/
I had kids late in life, so I am raising my children alongside the Millennials. I don’t side with the boomers when it comes to children. I don’t believe every child gets an award for participation but I also don’t believe in telling children that life‘s not fair and suck it up. There’s a position in between those two mentalities.
