Sirius XM: Worth the monthly fee?

Loving the 3-month free trial. Did any of you sign up after it was over?

Tell them you're quitting and they'll offer you a ridiculous deal.

Agree with PP. We only really like the music channels and a few others BBC news, etc. The plan we have costs about $130/year.

To me, it's worth it; I've had Sirius XM for years now. The key is to call and negotiate the price to somewhere around $6 per month, and yes, you usually have to threaten to cancel. Last time my renewal came up, I didn't have to call; I was offered a continuation of the same deal I had. With so many competing music services, I think Sirius is getting desperate for subscribers. My plan also includes streaming on my phone/computer for free, which I love!

I always say I'm going to cancel until they give me the $99 a year deal INCLUDING Stern. It has worked every year.

Yep - but with a discount (as everyone else said). I was a late adopter but I LOVE alt-nation. I love no ads. It's made my commute so much better.

I had it for 3 years but recently stopped. even with the $4 a month deal they keep offering me, it's not worth it - i don't spend that much time in the car (lucky me, short commute), so for me audiobooks/podcasts are just fine.

If you DO bite the bullet make them give you streaming (its not included with every package) .

I keep calling back every 6 mos and get another "discount " deal. I'm going on 2 yrs. Currently paying about $78 for a year. Sirius changed a few months ago to include streaming for everyone...no extra cost.

I listen to CNN and MSNBC and NPR all the time, plus the Blend and KissLA, etc.

By the way, you have to call to cancel or renew a discount BEFORE your current subscription ends. But do it the day it ends or the day/week before.

I had it for the free three months and then signed up for 6 months at a very low price but I rarely used it so I cancelled it. If I’m driving for 30 minutes or more I listen to an Audible book or a podcast. For short trips I listen to music via Spotify. The only thing I really like about Sirius was EStreet radio because I’m a big Springsteen fan. But if you like Sirius you just need to be willing to call them to get a better deal.

We just talked about this today. Our free trial is running out and my wife said they left a phone message saying there is a problem with our account. We assume it’s because we haven’t signed up. We drive less than 10,000 miles a year between the two cars so don’t use Satellite radio much.

I pay about $5 a month on a multi-month promo plan. I’ve been doing that for several years. I enjoy it. I do a ton of short trips and don’t want to fool with my phone every time I get in and out of the car.

It’s gone downhill since they removed ElectricArea and replaced it with that Diplo crap. That said, it beats having to listen to Wash FM or Hot 99.5 everyday.

It's worth it to us, but we also listen to a lot of sports, in addition to music and news.
