Turbo engine on CX-5

I'm pretty close to buying a CX-5, and tempted to upgrade to GT-R for the turbo engine. But since this is mostly going to be a commuter car, I'm not sure I would ever get a chance to actually benefit from the turbo, while spending more on it due to premium gas.
If you have one, what has your experience driving in the DMV been like? |
