Since I wrote repeatedly last year about how how horrible the tournament was, I 'd like to point out that the first weekend seemed to go really well this year.
We loved being at the Soccerplex, and the fields were in great shape. The refs were competent. A one hour delay for frosty fields was handled well. The only negative, from a BSC perspective, is how badly our teams did in general. |
It's been a very dry Fall. |

Yes. Our experience this year was great. It was below freezing Saturday morning so the 1 hour delay was great for all of the players and parents. The only thing that would have made this tournament better is if the temperature would be in the 50-60 degree range.
Also, BSC had people directing traffic so it helped a lot. |
I agree. We are from Northern Virginia, thought the tournament was well-organized, schedules and changes well-communicated, and seedlings of teams across multiple age groups extremely accurate. We also benefited from rapid help with a number of injuries and even lost items, with coordinators going well out of their way to help us quickly and agreeably. It is nice to have incredibly competitive divisions with multiple clubs and teams from outside the immediate area. |
| They had a lot of cleanup to do with their reputation after the last few years. The changes seem to be remedying the main gripes. (the biggest is not stretching themselves too thin cramming it all in one weekend) |
Yeah, saw that BSC's U11 A1 team lost to Total Futbol in the prelims. I think it's been a long time since they lost to a local team in their age group. |
I saw two of their three games - that team played at an extraordinarily high level, regardless of results, which can be pretty variable at that age. But that Total Futbol team is very tough and skilled, and the other side of the bracket in that age group was stacked as well. |
Think the ref pool was definitely much better than it’s been in years due to not stretching thin. It was a well done event and heard that from a lot of teams (and the jokes about last years disaster). Sometimes better to keep things smaller and done well. |

My littles played at Morven Park -- there's a drainage pipe/Moat that keeps parents at bay. It may not be the intention of the drains, but my god, it's BRILLIANT!
Every field should have a parent moat. |
| I propose that we all take a moment to reflect on how awesome the Soccerplex is and, how lucky we are to have it. |
Word. So envious of the facilities every time I go there. |
| Soccerplex is a great facility. I will take it over Muldoon any time. |
Comparing Soccerplex to Muldoon is like comparing a high-end vacation resort to a truck stop. LOL Let’s hope no club ever uses Muldoon as a tournament site again. |
