My son will enter K in Flower Valley EMS next fall. We are torn about whether to send him there or keep him where he is (which has a K that has about 10 kids and 2 teachers). DS has SID and has come a long way so far with OT. I'm wondering if Flower Valley would be a good placement for him. I also had heard that this particular school was busing kids in from a totally different EMS in order to receive some grant money or something. I have no idea if this is true. I don't even know how to find out. Also, does anyone know if it is possible to get DS placed in a different EMS in MOCO? I assume it is rather involved and you have to fit into one of their special programs (not just because DS might do better in a different environment). Anyone have any insight? |
This school is no a good idea hasno spirit and i treas the kid very bad the princpal is also not very goo and does not communicate well with parents. |
school stinks |
Not the OP, but interested to know more. Can the two PPs give more info about why the school is so bad? |
I've been looking for info too and can't get any.
Are there no Flower Valley parents on here, or do they just not want to talk??? |
I don't have a child there, but MoCo schools in general are really good for kids with special needs. I don't know if SID falls in that category or not. I would talk to DC's current teachers and see what they feel would be an appropriate placement for him first. They know him best. Then I'd check with the school itself. Just give the principal a call and see where that goes.
Here's the school's School at a Glance in case you haven't seen that yet: http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/regulatoryaccountability/glance/currentyear/schools/02506.pdf Here is the school survey page, which includes surveys given to certain students as well as parents and staff: http://sharedaccountability.mcpsprimetime.org/SurveyResults/index.php?sch=506 These are available for all MoCo schools, by the way. I'm not sure how well-known that is. |
