Georgetown Medstar has gone way downhill

Just had first prenatal visit for baby #2 and was dismayed by the rudeness of literally all staff except for the doctor. From the initial scheduling call to the front desk staff to the nurse who sent me off without having given me the flu shot she recommended upon my arrival. I delivered there 2.5 yrs ago and had an incredible experience every step of the way. What happened?

Now leaning toward delivering at Sibley but the process of finding a new OBGYN is daunting.

I love a Foxhall obgyn

Agreed.

Also, beware that they do not require vaccinations. If you stay with the practice, you will be bringing your newborn to a waiting room full of unvaccinated kids. I didn’t realize this until there was a measles case in DC and I asked at our appointment.

This was 5 years ago. There are lots of better practices out there.

Same experience. My doctor there (who I love -- all their docs are awesome) gave me papers to set up my next appt in 4 wks. When I went to the front desk to give them the papers they were SOOO BEYOND RUDE! Like literally there was no one else being attended at their desk and they acted like I was being ridiculous for wanting to set up my next appt and told me to call and do it because they were too busy checking in patients. Really it was just the attitude. Everyone there seemed disgruntled except my doc.

This is sad to hear. We delivered our DD at Georgetown in 2014 and had overall a very positive experience.

Also, Georgetown has been a nightmare to access with that never/ending construction off Reservoir.

I went once to try out the practice a month ago and will not be back. Was not impressed with anything.

Oh! I'm glad I didn't go to them after reading your post. I just switched practices and Georgetown was on my list but didn't choose them at the end and was feeling that I should've chose them.

I delivered there twice a few years ago. Fwiw, the scheduling staff was rude even then, and my first nurse/nurse practitioner was a nightmare, but everyone else was fine.

Wow - I am currently a patient at MedStar Georgetown and have had a wonderful experience. Caring, friendly staff, including doctors, nurses, and scheduling staff (whether in person or on the phone).

I’m about a month away from my due date, so have had many, many appointments and interactions with nurses, doctors and staff. All positive, and we simply cannot say enough good things about our doctor, Tara Kelly. She is the best! The other docs and MFMs have been great as well.

I delivered with them in 2017 and absolutely loved the NPs in the office, loved the MFMs, loved the L&D and postpartum nurses, liked most of the OBs I saw (I saw at least 6 different ones), liked the nurses in the office and was neutral towards or annoyed by the office staff.

Current patient in this practice and have to agree that the desk staff is not up to par. Ive only gone there for 2 years so don’t know what it was like before. Docs and nurses are wonderful but nearly all the desk staff suck. Norman, the one guy who is usually there, is the exception.

I assume this is about L&D but I went there last winter because I couldn't breathe and I told them I couldn't breathe and they made me wait in the waiting room for five hours with a bunch of fking crackheads. Like, figure out your damn triage and maybe serve the person who can't breathe before the person throwing french fries around the room and asking for drugs.

clearly you could breathe, because you're not dead.

I second Foxhall OBGYN. Definitely switch, you have plenty of time and the rudeness will become wearisome to deal with at every appointment.

They didn't know I wasn't going to die, did they? I had to listen to some druggie argue with the doctor about why he couldn't just give her Percocet to take back out onto the street with her.
