What's your favorite time for a birthday party for a 4 year old? Mix of 3 and 4 year old girls. Birthday girl still naps from 12-1:30 or so and I think some of her friends do as well. Trying to figure out if morning or afternoon is preferable. Will be at our house. TIA! |
10 am |
We did 10:30 - 12:00 and served "brunch" -- bagels, muffins, fruit, and instead of cake we had doughnuts. |
10am. Besides, if this is at your house, kids are SO much better behaved at 10 am than they would be at 3pm! They can be little overtired monsters at 3pm. |
10-12 |
We always do 10 am and the parents thank us. Funny thing is that the grandparents and aunt who attend whine nonstop about how early it is and what a terrible time. Last year my inlaws overslept and were an hour late to the party. Sigh. |
We love an afternoon party. That said since it’s at your house it will probably be easier for you to do something in the morning.
Be ok with rolling arrivals... Some folks go rogue and early bird and others will trickle in around 11 |
Another vote for 10am! Or I'd say 4pm. |
OP here. This is very helpful! We will do 10-12 and serve brunch type food. Thank you! |
We have recently been to three 4 year old parties and they were all in the afternoon. I was surprised. I guess they no longer nap? We will be having ours from 12:00-2:00pm. |
My 4 y/o doesn’t nap, but his younger sister does and he gets quiet time then, so middle of the day tends to be our “break time” during weekends when DH and I can get stuff done around the house or relax ourselves.
I think a 10-12 party is perfect and also love parties that start around 2/3 to fill up the afternoon time that can drag on. |
12-2 is not a great time. The ones that do nap are still right then. I'd either do 10-12 or 2-4 but not 12-2. We would probably skip a birthday party that is 12-2. |
Ours naps after lunch, ie 1:30-3, so we couldn't make 2-4 but could do 12-2. You'd have to serve lunch though! |
Morning for sure. |
I’m the OP with the 12-2pm party. That’s the idea that if they do nap, it’s after lunch. But seriously, the 4 year olds who nap, would nap from 12-2? Mine who is turning 4 has more or less stop napping. If she does, it’s after 2. |
