Do you exercise with your partner/spouse?

Is it fun? Does it help keep you motivated? Connected? If so, what do you do together? I’m thinking about trying some short hiit sequences w my spouse.

Yes yes yes

Hiking and cycling

Nope. Mostly because we like different activities and one of us has to be home with the kids.

We do occasionally hike as a family

Yup! Yoga and hiking. We used to run together, but my knees just can’t do it anymore.

Op here. This is definitely us right now. While the family brings us together, it’s also driven us apart. I’m hoping a new hobby/sport together can be fun and help us feel good. Hopefully we can find the time.

We do hiking and climbing together. It's fun! Hiking is always just a great time to talk and hang out. Climbing requires a lot of teamwork and motivation, so it brings us together.

We're both primarily runners, but we never run together - completely different paces and distances!

We do CrossFit and yoga together. Kids are older now so can be left at home. DH also cycles but he does that alone. I enjoy exercising with him.

No I can run circles around my husband and his version of working out at the gym makes me embarrassed. He is a “hold on to the treadmill” type while he walks for 20 min. Then he hits the weight machines and does one set of 5 on a couple things then calls it a day. Yes he is fat. I wish he could keep up with me.

Yes. We run together and it’s great.

So much to unpack here.

Not usually. Occasionally we'll run a race together or do a bike tour on vacation. I am turned off by his sweating and gasping for air. Maybe he feels the same way about me.

When kids are at school and he can go in late we do this. It’s the best

No. I'm 5'5" tall and my husband is 6' tall. He has a much longer stride than I do so walking/jogging/running with him is not a lot of fun for me because our pace is so different from each other.

He does free weights, I prefer to use the circuit machines.

We do some active fun things together but I wouldn't call that "working out".

We take the dog on a lengthy walk every day together. It's a great time to talk about our day and other things without the distraction of screens or work. We also enjoy hiking together.

What is there to unpack? Husband sounds like a fat blob and wife is fit. This is common in many UMC circles.
