We've always gotten Squall coats from Land's End, but our kindergartener doesn't like wearing them -- "too bulky." Any suggestions for alternatives that are a) very warm AND b) waterproof (or at least as waterproof as the Squall)? Bonus points for c) not a million jillion dollars.
TIA! |
Not sure if its what you're looking for but we do a hood quality fleece and then a puffy vest if its cold enough. Great for seatbelt as far as not bulky. If they're running around theyre fine in layers. Then we throw on the vest if need be. My kid does have a Columbia winter coat that fits your criteria but DD doesn't love it for the same reason you mentioned. |
Good not hood |
We get north face down jacket (550) it looks super thin but keeps my kid very warm |
Looking for the same but for a teenager! It doesn’t get better with time lol |
Uniqlo |
I just bought my daughters each a thin down jacket from Costco for $24.99. Lightweight but will keep them warm bc of the down fill. |
LL Bean ultralight down, North Face Perrito, or Patagonia PuffBall. All 3 are super thin and very warm. Out of the 3, North Face is the bulkiest (but still safe for a carseat!) |
We'll be using a Colombia fleece jacket as the inside layer and amazon/target/costco light puffer as the outer layer. I find this more versatile than a more expensive and thick bigger jacket. AND the fleece jacket is thin enough that it can be used in car seats, which is a big thing for us. |
I just found an LL bean ski jacket style coat at the thrift store for 6.99. Im so happy because its going to be really cold on Friday. ( yes i am poor by dcum standards) |
