Aggressive Religious Recruiters

Anonymous
I've been approached by crazy Religious cults on several occasions:
1. 4 times at different Targets
2. Tysons mall
3. My neighborhood playground
4. Harris teeter
5. Work

I am polite to a fault and I guess it makes me a Target, but I'm
Tired of being told why everyone's cult is the best. Are there end-of-month recruiting quotas?

You made eye contact.

I don’t.

I live in an area with a lot of panhandlers, political petition signature collectors, scam charity workers, and missionaries.

I walk defensively. Just as I drive, I’m looking a fair bit ahead of me and to either side so I can spot and evade potential trouble spots. When I see a group has set up shop with their placards on the sidewalk, I switch sides of the street. If I can’t switch, I speed up considerably and put an unfriendly expression on my face. This eliminates all but the most bold. For them, when they approach, I don’t make eye contact, but I say brusquely “Sorry!” and I don’t break stride as I pass them. If they try to follow me, I hold up my hand and increase my speed while stating loudly, “Not interested!”

This sounds rude, but do is any solicitation —religious or not— that is unwanted.

It's hard because these people dress and approach normally as if they were also shopping and just asking a shopping question. An ambush of sorts.

I smile briefly and say “not interested”.

Oh, that's easy, tell them "oh, I would love to accept a new deity recommendation but unfortunately I felt the last opening last week and
there are not more spots in my pantheon, please give me your card and I will contact you when there will be an opening"

Or, raise two fingers of your left or right hand in the air and say this" The world is ending next week, behold and repent"
And walk away in your direction, they will not follow you.
