We have been doing a Halloween party for 15 years.
1) It starts at 5. 2) We serve pizza and salad from Buca di Beppo (Intalian and apple/gargonzola) 3) My kids are 20 (in college so not there) and 17, but the families involved have kids as young as 5th grade now. We plan to never stop the party even when all the kids are grown and gone. 4) It originally started because my neighbor thought it was totally hectic to get kids dressed and fed before trick or treating and kids emotions are high on that day. Her H was never home early and my H sometimes worked that night. So she and I decided to tag team. I feed the kids and she would be in charge of costumes. Dads get home later and take the kids trick or treating and we sit outside with a fire pit and drink wine and hand out candy... and beer and wine. We have had as many as 10 families at some point and as little as just us 2. We had 5 families last night. |
1) What time did it start? 5
2) Did it include dinner? Yes, host had pizza and drinks and everyone else brought potluck sides & dessert 3) How old are your kids? 4, 7, 10 4) Was it the parents who organized, or was it based on your kids' friends in the neighborhood? Last night was our 6th Halloween since we’ve lived here and my friend has done that party the whole time. I think this was our last year doing that though!!! ![]() I might let my oldest go alone with friends next year and go with neighbors with the younger two. We may host something at our end of the street. I would like to have alcohol for adults but we are also ToT with our kids so not sure who would hand out. I like to ToT but my husband might want to stay home if his friends are around to hang out too. |
1) What time did it start? -- 5:00
2) Did it include dinner? -- Yes 3) How old are your kids? -- 11, 9 and 7. 4) Was it the parents who organized, or was it based on your kids' friends in the neighborhood? -- Parents. We aren't the hosts, just invited. Some of the kids are close friends, some just tolerate each other. When the kids leave to go ToT, they break off into groups or meet up with their friends in the neighborhood that weren't at the potluck. |

We didn't last night because of the forecast, but our neighborhood HOA plans an event. It's potluck, and the families all gather to eat then the kids break off in to groups to trick or treat. I really enjoy it!

OP here and thanks for the replies. Last night I was thinking it would have been so fun to organize something for the families in our little area. Maybe next year! |

Our hoa has a neighborhood party. Pizza is provided and everyone brings drinks, sides, chips. Party starts at 5:30. Babies through teens.
We have also been to private Halloween party. Host provided pizza after school. Kids ate and hung out and then went trick or treating. |
