Halloween -- What age can kids go out by themselves?

At what age did you (or do you plan to) let your kids go trick or treating by themselves?

Mine did in fifth grade (just turned 11)

Really, 10? I didn't go out by myself until I was 15 and that was the last year I went.

10 for my son. They go in a large group and everyone has phones. No big deal

My 14 year old goes with his 9 year old sibling, and they both want us to come with the dog, because it's a family thing. We meet other neighborhood families, with dogs, and we all talk and catch up.

DS did in 4th grade and DD in 5th grade (I'd have let her go in 4th but her friends' parents weren't comfortable with it yet)

Depends on the kid and the neighborhood. We won't be letting our DS go out by himself until he's in middle school.

Your parents let you go out alone just one year before you could drive alone?! Wow.

For me it was the same as others, 10ish

My 10 yo o and his two friend went out tonight for about 2 hours. None of them have phones. Guess what, they were fine and had a blast, just like we did in 1986.

10, without phones but within a few blocks. Lots of neighbors out and about. Totally fine.
