Malloween - Halloween at Fair Oaks mall or Tyson’s mall?

Anonymous
Has anyone ever been to the Halloween events at these two malls? I have a 3 and 5 year old and was considering taking them to an indoor mall to trick or treat but want to get some input from others who have been. Is it a complete madhouse?

Tysons does not host one to my knowledge or they didn’t the past few years. We lived in McLean and I always checked.

When I lived in Fairfax 5 years ago we did fair oaks two years and it was a good number or stores handing candy out.

I went my kids were little. It was pretty lame. The candy was all hard candy, too. Nothing a toddler could eat.

We went to a mall by Dulles once - sorry I don't remember exactly which one. Anyway, it was a zoo. There were really long lines and just a few stores were doing it. Honestly, it was awful.

Anyone who goes to a mall for this is a wimp.

Tysons is apparently hosting one this year, but it's from 3-5 and I guess the pitch is you do this one and then do neighborhood trick or treating.

I worked in a mall when they did this. It was always mobbed and we (the store) were responsible for buying our candy. So of course, corporate was stingy and gave us very little to spend, thus the cheap hard candy. I suppose it's better than nothing, and it's fun for the little kids to see other little kids in costume. I would never choose it over "regular" trick or treating, if I had those two options.
