A dealer who I made inquiries with about a car told me the car had a change in fair market value. He didn't tell me what that change was. Another sale person at a different dealership mentioned buying by the end of the month. Do new car prices drop every month? This 2020 just came out a couple months ago.

| Dealers need to make monthly, quarterly, and annual goals. Sales people are always eager to sell at the end of the month to meet quota. |

"Fair market value" when used by dealers referring to brand new cars always means either markup or closer to MSRP. If expressed interest at their previous price they're not going to voluntarily give additional price break.
Unless this is something like a 2020 MB GLE that was totally refreshed for the 2020 model year you're going to have much better negotiation power on a 2019 MY car. |
| I bought a car in May and yes, they play around with the prices quite a lot and often. Looked up my car- prices seem pretty high right no as if it's their last chance to get top dollar. |
| Car prices don't drop every month. Dealer's incentive/willingness to make a deal changes every month and within a month. |
| I assume the price changes every time a new customer walks in the door. |
Did the price go up PP? |
