Egg Whites vs. Pre-seed

Any thoughts on which is better?
I am TTC #2. My DD was a "whoops" so while I don't think I have any issues conceiving, I never really tried, so not sure. We started trying for #2 last month for the first time and were unsuccessful. I tracked cervical mucous and felt ovulatory pain so I'm pretty sure we were timing correctly. I was considering using pre-seed this month and was curious the difference between using that product and egg whites. Any experience? Thanks! |

| Uh, pre-seed is sterile and there's no risk of contamination from salmonella or other pathogens that could be on the egg shell. |

| My RE told me to stay away from egg whites b/c of salmonella and suggested that I use canola oil instead -- its cheaper than pre-seed and you probably already have it in the house. |

| So do the egg whites/canola oil/pre-seed all serve to accomplish the same thing or is one better than another for different things? |

| DS concieved with timed intercourse (clomid and trigger) with egg whites. DS2 concieved with preseed. Have to admit that I always thought the egg whites seemed like not a great idea (but was desperate for pregnancy and not thinking too clearly). Sine preseed worked and is sterile, I would use that. |

| Our RE said not to use the pre-seed and to go with mineral oil, but be sure to use a towel b/c it can stain. We never got that far. Got pregnant without lube. I opened the bottle of mineral oil, but never ended up using it. |

Why did your RE say not to use pre-seed? |

My RE also said to not use egg white because of salmonella, but I used it anyway. I also used pre-seed. At the time, I was just maniacally focused on getting pregnant, no matter what - if someone had told me "eat cow shit" and you will get pregnant, I would have gone to some farm to get it!
If you are going to use egg white, use the pasteurized kind - you can find it at any grocery store. |

Pre-seed worked for me for DC #2!

I used pre-seed for four months and ended up with cervicitis! Not totally sure that it was related, but the lit that comes with pre-seed says its possible.
Ever since then I have been using olive oil, works great for me but still waiting for the bfp. |

| Pre-seed worked for DC #2 for us. I usually get good CM but just wasn't that month. |
