On Kojo show, Bowser took a shot at Mary Cheh's management of committee with oversight over Dept of General Services, which undertakes school modernizations. Says Cheh prioritized schools in her Ward 3 over Ward 8 before the agency was taken from her oversight this year.
Cheh was just savage in her response to that dimwit: https://twitter.com/marycheh/status/1187791752616402944?s=19 |
| God, when will DC finally get a decent mayor? |
| She's a profoundly stupid woman who lucked into a city with a humming economy. To distract from rising crime and inequality issues, she's clearly now all about blaming Ward 3 for all of the city's ills (witness her proposal that anyone who opposes her impossible housing plan be "shamed"). I cannot wait until she's forced out by the inevitable scandal that I'm sure is right around the corner, almost certainly involving bribes from developers. |
| God Bowser is awful. |
| It's a pretty dumb attack by Bowser, but Cheh did pull some strings to get (I think Eaton) some renovation money even though they were far down the priority list. |
+1. And she issued a press release that all but bragged about it. Just because you deny something doesn’t necessarily mean it’s untrue. |
| Isnt a councilmembers job ALSO to look out for schools in their ward? I thought Eaton had gotten the shaft for a.long time, and is also absorbing kids from the planned shelter. Zero issue with them getting some reno miney in sight of that.FWIW, dont like Cheh but the rest of the Council makes her look like Roses. |
| I used to work with Mary Cheh at GW Law. She's fair, smart, and polite. She'd be a far better mayor. At any rate, great Tweet. |
Almost all of the other schools in the city were renovated before the ones in Ward 3. Eaton had to be done before the homeless shelter came online. |
| Cheh 1 - 0 Bowser |

Good that she has time to tweet. Must mean all the scooters have slowed down and the rats relocated.
If there is a smaller bore, more underachieving legislator on that body, I’d love to see the evidence. |
Honestly...Eaton got pushed down many times as did Murch from when they were supposed to be renovated. Pulling strings was simply to get the initial plan done. Cheh is so meh to me but at least she's not corrupt. I honestly feel like she does what she thinks is best. And...I don't think she fought hard enough for Murch's renovation to happen
|
She most certainly didn't strain herself advocating for Murch, and her kids went there. It was really weird. |
Eaton was the last school in Cheh’s ward and one of the last in the city to be slated for renovation. Cheh basically had to be shamed into funding an expansion and renovation, after she handpicked a site for a new family homeless shelter down the street from Eaton. And the funds that Cheh got were far less than she obtained for other schools in her ward, including Janney, Mann, Hearst and Murch. |
Cheh’s problem is that she always thinks she knows best and gives short shrift to anyone with a different opinion. I used to assume that she must be intelligent as a professor, but I’ve talked with her a number of times over the years and concluded that she is far mire stubborn than smart. |
