| Anyone with experience working there and how does it compare with the other Big 4 firms? |
|
Hi, I’m also curious.
Any experience with salary and benefits offers? |
| It's PWC's public sector arm, so I'd expect a lot of similarities around benefits and advancement, but probably lower pay than private sector. |
| I interviewed with them and it seemed like a great company. However I am in the government and make $150K and they offered me $160K. It didn't seem enought to leave the government. I also felt like their recruiters had no idea about my background and what would be the best fit and I wound up having several different interviews which I didn't like. I like to be prepared and I'd be told I was interviewing for one job and then interview for another, which was a better fit. I really had to advocate that the jobs the recruiter had selected were way below my experience and paygrade. I have several friends who are partners at Guidehouse and love it, but I have a few friends who are senior consultants and miserable. |
| I'm a fed and I work with Guidehouse staff all the time. They seem to be pretty happy working there. I haven't heard any bad things. Long hours seem to be the norm, though, but that's kind of par for the course in the industry. |
| Are long hours the norm for client side employees? |
No, they were spun off from PWC and later acquired by a venture capitalist firm. |
|
Is the work life balance okay on the client facing side?
Or is there a demand from leadership to participate in a lot of business development outside the 40 hour week? |
| Guidehouse is not affiliated with PwC anymore so it is not a Big4. With that being said I worked for PwC Public Sector from 2010-2014 before they became GuideHouse. We worked long hours like you would at the Big 4. Most of the leadership will most likely still be former PwC people so I imagine the culture has not changed much. |

Glassdoor salaries are all over the map.
What salary can someone expect in DC for a senior consultant? |
| Probably around 130 |
| While Guidehouse is no longer a Big 4, you should expect a very similar lifestyle. Your overall experience will vary based on the team you join - some are happier than others. Salary range is wide for a senior, last I heard it was something like 80-140, depending on experience and certifications etc. You should expect to work long hours, as you will be supporting a client plus there is an expectation that you will contribute to business development (proposals etc) and internal firm initiatives after your client work is complete. |
Thanks this is helpful! This is OP. I was told that we can really contribute as much or as little as we like towards BD, but that bonuses depend on it. |
|
ALthough their maternity leave is pretty awesome.
Does anyone know what the work life balance is for new parents? |
Not just bonuses, though that too. But if you don’t do it, you will be a senior consultant forever. No chance at promotion and decent raises. |
