Two working parents, looking for recommendations for how to keep up with things. We spend every waking hour with our kids, but find we can't get everything done after they go to bed.
Cleaning services have never impressed us. Does anyone out there have a service provider they love? We're in NoVa. |
Start having the kids help you! |
Twice weekly housekeeper who cooks? |
Well, I don't know about love, but we use Maid Bright and don't have any complaints. |
Maybe you are expecting too much from cleaners. |
1. Cleaners rarely impress, but they keep bathrooms and corners clean and I am "forced" to pick up/organize stuff before they show up. 2. Trader Joe's pre-made food. 3. Instill some simple good habits in kids, i.e. clean up your plate and put in sink, put your shoes, jacket and backpack away, wash your hands as you enter the house. 4. Husband unloads/ loads dishwasher every night. |
Same as a PP, I wouldn't say love but CAOS Cleaning does a good job. Have been with them since 2013. |
I make my lunch and DD's at the same time im making dinner. Only one clean up. Bedtime is 8 but she can read until 830. I dont really do anything for the house once she is in bed except maybe move laundry along. We have a cleaner come once every 2 weeks. What are your work hours and what do u feel u are falling behind on? |
This is a little rude. You obviously have one child, so the high horse is not really where you want to be... |
Maybe you don’t need to spend every waking hour with your kids?
When my first was a baby I was a SAH and I would sit and talk to her at every meal, even when she could self feed. I went to a friend’s house and while her baby was in the high chair she was doing dishes and prepping dinner for the. Extra day. For about a day I judged her —how could she ignore her child (she wasn’t, she talked to him the whole time) and miss some precious opportunity for bonding and education?! Then I realized her house was in order and mine was not, she was happy and I was not. That was the day I realized I could get things done with my kids around and not feel guilty about it. |
*next day |
why is this rude? We both work FT and spouse works evenings so i solo parent 5 night a week. |
Lower your standards for the cleaners. |
They gave their routine and asked a question on what specifically the OP felt like they needed help with. How is that rude? |
Huh? What high horse is the pp on? I like the lunch/dinner combo strategy. |
