| Think Old Dominion, or really any road where there's one lane in each direction and you can't pass. The speed limits also aren't very high (max 35 or so), but here we are, doing 20 (if we're lucky) with no traffic and lovely weather. |
| Sometimes I slow down if you're REALLY tailgating me. |
| Because I can |
| Control freaks. Get off on trying to dictate how others act and imposing what they think is right on the world |
| Some people are more comfortable at slower speeds. I'd rather they drive safely within their comfort zone that be coerced in to driving faster because you are tailgating them and then they are putting everyone at risk. It sucks. Deal with it. |
Aren't speed limits there to ensure that those drivers safe? Driving significantly slower causes tailgating, like a PP above said, and even higher chances of an accident and road rage. |
| They have Waze and have been alerted to police ahead. |
|
Those roads are most likely curvy, narrow, tight, and some people feel compelled to drive slower than posted out of abundance of caution.
Or they are gawking at the palatial houses they are driving past. |
| Looky loos enjoying the scenery and/or playing with their phone. It's usually the latter. |
| They’re looking at their phones or are elderly. |
+1,000 If they weren’t control freaks, they would pull over to let others pass. Where are the cops for these a-holes? |
| Also could be looking for an address or are generally unfamiliar with the road and feel uncomfortable taking the hills and curves at the speed limit. Could have had a bad experience like coming up on a cyclist too quickly, etc. The speed limit is the maximum legal speed, not the minimum. Only interstates have a minimum speed. |
If you can’t handle a windy road, don’t drive. |
| Teenager out of the parking lot for the first time. |
| If you are tailgating me, I’m going to go exactly the speed limit. Back the fuk up and we won’t have a problem. |
