DE question

We are going the route of donor eggs. We are doing a 1:1 not sharing eggs. Can someone enlighten us on an average how many eggs did they get from their donor. How many fertilized and made it through pgs testing day 5 or day 6 embryos.

If you don't get answers here the infertility reddit is a great resource.

There are no magic answers OP - every donor is different, every cycle is different, every scenario can vary widely.

Your best ability to project anything would come from looking at prior donor cycles if you're using a proven donor. And even that doesn't necessarily correlate with what you might expect.

I'm sorry. The horrific unknowns and unaswerables of infertility are a major part of the strain of it.

Good luck.

We went with frozen eggs at RBA. We went with their 6 egg program. She was a proven donor. We ended up with 4 high quality embryos. Have 2 kids now. The experience was quite simple and straightforward.

It is impossible to generalize. We did a 2:1 share. Our donor was 24. We received 15 eggs. 3 became viable for transfer. We did ICSI so that might have affected our numbers, I don’t know. We were successful on the first transfer, the fresh cycle. good luck!

Also 2:1 share here (converted from 3:1). We got 15 eggs, 10 made it to viable blasts for transfer.

I did a 3:1 with a proven donor. We got 12 embryos, 5 normals. She was an exceptional producer. We were shocked.

We got 23 eggs 1:1, and ended up with 10 normal embryos. Normal fertilization is around 70%, I think. About half the resulting embryos using DE should be normal. Our results were better than expected. Donors should be screened and have good AMH at or above 2 and be under about 30 years old. That info should be available to you. So you should generally expect better than average outcomes, but there’s no guarantee. If you go with a donor who had a donation that resulted in a pregnancy, you get a little more comfort. We were able to get info on the number of eggs and embryos, and whether there was a pregnancy from our donor’s prior donation.

We went through a couple donors that the RE recommended we pass on one For lower AMH and one for age.

Hope you’re successful!

My RE doesn’t seem to have reviewed the paperwork on the donor I chose (I’m using Fairfax Egg Bank). Can I ask where you did your DE cycle? I wonder if I should ask my RE to review the details.

SG reviewed the info on a couple. I ended up going out to California bc the donor I chose wanted to use the same RE she had donated with previously and it was more convenient for her. We were advised to use fresh eggs due to MF issues. If you use frozen, the % fertilization will be lower as the freezing process is hard on the eggs. Blasts do better with freezing.

Once you know how many eggs, the AMH levels aren’t that relevant. Im assuming for the egg bank it’s all frozen and a set # of eggs. Age is still relevant though. It’s better that the donor was in her 20s at the time of donation, but if the donor meets all their criteria, not sure I’d Pass if the donor happened to be 30.

I did the frozen egg route with shady grove. Of six eggs, I wound up with two blastocysts. Both were PGS normall.

I was an egg donor. Docs ended up getting 22 eggs from me. I was told that was on the high end.
