Blighted Ovum- best way to miscarry to do another FET soonest?

Anonymous
I started with low betas which doubled but at my 6+5 day scan yesterday my gestational sac was empty - not even a yolk sac visible. I am going for a follow up ultrasound in a few days but I am not optimistic. For those who have done this painful ordeal before - what is the fastest and safest path to miscarrying to get my period soonest so that I can try another FET? I have four embryos left and I want to push through even though I’m exhausted. Thanks

So sorry. I used the pills and it was fairly quick and painless, but I know others have not had the same experience with the pills. The D&C is probably the quickest method to make sure everything is completely cleared out.

I had a D&C because I wanted to get it over with quickly. It took two months for my period to come back and I had trouble with a thin lining prepping for an FET. I just had the transfer today nearly three months after I got the bad news. I’m sorry you have to go through this. It’s really crappy and I’m sending good thoughts!

I’m so sorry. My first was a blighted ovum. It’s heartbreaking. FWIW, I waited to m/c naturally, but that didn’t happen until 10 weeks. It had taken me years to get pregnant at that point, and my OB said that there are risks to the D& C no matter how small. I didn’t want to take them. If you want quick, I’d do the D&C.

OP I am dealing with this right now. I'm so sorry. My D&C for what was my first blighted ovum (but 4th loss) was almost exactly 4 weeks ago. I wouldn't say my situation is exactly normal but my beta yesterday was still at about 320. I can only hope that in another month it will be negative but I know from prior experience that the decrease from like 50 to zero can in and of itself take forever.

I guess the difference for me is that, while I also started out with low betas (about 30 at 14dpo), they rose quickly from there and by the time I was diagnosed at my 7 week ultrasound, I think my beta levels were normal, at about 35,000.

I even researched whether there was something about blighted ovums (ova?) that caused HCG to drop slower but came up with nothing. Probably my OB just did a shitty job with my D&C and didn't get everything. I dunno. I'm sorry OP.

Very similar experience for me. I had a 7w u/s that showed the blighted ovum. I waited out the m/c and it happened at 11w. I was in my 40s and very concerned about possible damage to the lining from a D&C.

Something to consider op is waiting a bit to confirm that it really is a blighted ovum. If your uterus happens to be retroverted, a healthy pregnancy can look like a BO in the early weeks.
