| An if you did, did you attend college in or out of state? |
| I’m from Chicago, went to undergrad and grad school in Illinois. Left the state at 23, and never went back. |
| No. Came to DC for college, job offers were all in the DC metro. Would have loved to return to California, but I didn't have the opportunity to. |
| Graduated from high school in rural Maryland, college in Ohio, mines to DC and have been in the city ever since. |
Born and raised in northern Virginia, went to a big Virginia state school (Go Hokies!) and came right back to northern Virginia after graduation. Here ever since. Boring and basic, but I knew I wanted to work for the government and here I am, living the dream.
|
In hindsight do you wish you had stayed in CA for college? |
| I’ve never lived outside my home state, including during college. |
I lived at home and went to college at night part time while working full time. Moved out of state about three months after graduating, and never moved back. |
| DC born and raised but went to Massachusetts for college and work, and then California for grad school. Came back to DC for work and to raise kids |
|
Went out of state to college, went back home for a year to work and save money and then moved to DC.

Came to Virginia from Illinois for college, went to Philly for grad school, then moved back to Virginia to Fairfax. Have been here 20 years now. My sibling moved to MD after his grad work also. So my parents built a house in Virginia and went back and forth to Illinois for about 10 years until all their parents had passed, now they live here full time.
When my mom dropped me at college, she said , "you're never coming back! " And I said, "I'll be back at Thanksgiving!" And now look where we are. She was right. |
| All my siblings went to college out of state except one. That one is the only one who lives at home (literally in the house we grew up in). The rest of us are spread around the country. |
| Yes I did return. I grew up in Bethesda, went to the Midwest for college and New England for grad school, and came back to this area. After living in DC and Virginia for a few years I now live in...Bethesda. |
| nope. Wisconsin.... is ridiculous, |
Was that your complete thought? |
