| Different person here. Ditto. Would love feedback from current family. |
| My child is currently in nursery and will be going into transition. We have been really happy with the school. She loves the nurturing atmosphere and is thriving! |

Just sat next to a WES mom at dinner last night. Wonderful parent and loves the school and had great things to say. Notably, they really care about the whole child, they work very closely with the child's learning style, strong academics, they truly teach and reflect values, the parents are warm, loving, interesting people. Plus on the uniform side for her (I like uniforms too), and great help with high school admissions. We are in there, and are inclined to do it. I particularly like the international experiece they provide/emphasize.
Thoughts for current parents. What's the sports situation? How was your transition to highschool or what do you know about it from other families? What about time outside (big one for me)? Thanks in advance!! |
| What is the cutoff age for the three's program? I couldn't find it on the website. TIA |

| I am also interested in this information. We really like the school but don't know really anyone who attends, so trying to gather as much information as we can to help make a decision. TIA |

Bump.
I'm also interested in hearing about anyone's experiences with WES. We really enjoyed our visit there and were impressed by the facilities and the teachers. |

21:45 here. Just to expand on my earlier comments, as mentioned we are really happy with the school. There is a real emphasis on educating the whole child. For instance, there is a different value which is discussed with the kids each month. It really gets kids interested. My daughter spend a lot of the last month talking to me on what is kind vs. unkind behavior. I also like the emphasis on expression, particularly on art in the lower grades. All the teachers we have interracted with are wonderful nurturing people who really care about the kid. Academics are wonderful. Even in Nursery, kids are beginning to learn science (they had a lengthy discussion on hibernation and migration a few months back), pre-reading/reading, and the elements of math.
When I was looking last year, it really struck me how enthusiastic the parents were about the school...that really made me interested. On out placement, I had the same question as one of the previous posters. In talking to the parents, WES kids seem to get into all the "good' schools including, Landon, Holten Arms, Sidwell, etc.. I know of one family where the child got into St. Albans and they turned it down because he was so happy at WES and wanted to stay a few more years. I am happy to try and answer any other specific questions people have. Just leave me your e-mail and I will contact you. Good luck with your decisions!! |
| THank you, PP. Appreciate your thoughts. We are excited about WES and think it is going to be a great fit for our family and values. |
| Thank you so much 21:45. Your comments about WES were so helpful. One follow-up question, do you find that most of the families at WES are from Maryland, as opposed to DC or VA? Just wondering if we would be one of the only DC families or whether there are others. I'm interested in this for communiting/carpooling reasons. Thanks again! |

21:45 again,
We are actually a DC family and there are a few others that I know of. The majority of families are from Maryland. |
| What is WES, can anyone explain? |
| It is the Washington Episcopal School |
