The private Catholic schools recruiting has made it unfair for them to play the public schools and most other private schools and it doesn't seem like the public schools can play out of county games.
I miss the days of Gonzaga vs. Wilson etc... but Gonzaga or St. Johns vs. Wilson or BCC would be a total route. I think it would be interesting to see BCC or Whitman play Wilson on yearly home and home basis. Any other match-ups from the area anyone would like to see ??? |
| Football will be gone in ten years anyway. I have an elementary school aged boy, and I don't know any parents who would let their sons play. |
Concussions |
| Quince Orchard football is a really big deal. |
| Football is a dying sport. |
| They need to change it to flag football. |
Yeah, but aside from the Damascus game there has been and will be zero competition until regionals/finals. No other team has even scored against them. I, too, wish things were more competitive. |

Football is dying. I am surprised it is even still played at most schools in this area. Like op said - few schools field competitive teams anymore.
I am happy to see soccer and baseball picking up. Flag football is the evolution of football, but less appealing than soccer or lacrosse. Hockey is cool, but still niche. |
Did you see the two extremely brutal, and scary, hits on NFL players yesterday? I realize we are talking HS here. But, football would be a hard pass for me if I had a son. |
| It's so sad to see that sports in high schools is deteriorating nowadays. Although, I judge that by different testimonials. Hopefully, that's just a bunch of subjective opinions which do not show real tendencies. I adore American football and I watch it online on this page but I see that in my college and school sportsmen aren't that great as earlier and the sport itself isn't that popular. |

You all should actually read about the changes being made to football before declaring it's dead.
New helmets, new rules about how to tackle, enforcement of targeting calls/late hits/etc. have really reduced head injuries. |
25% of female and 12.1% of male high school ice hockey players go on to play for an NCAA program. 32% of male and 26% of NCAA ice hockey players only played on club teams outside of school so they didn't even need to find schools that had a team. If your family can deal with the expense and inconvenience, hockey's a good idea. |
Are you serious?! We're talking about the injury dangers of football and you cite perhaps the only sport MORE dangerous? |
Disagree. Most hits in hockey don't occur head on and both players are on ice not turf which mitigates the hit (unless it's against the boards). There are a lot more rules about when and how you can hit in hockey. |
| There are not enough good coaches. |
