| The premium plus Q5 or top of the line RDX. It's 53k vs 48k MSRP. I'm test driving the RDX this weekend but I enjoyed the Q5. |
| Do you need room for carseats? The Q5 has a VERY small backseat. Audis are also a pain when they need repairs/maintenance. My mom has the Q5 and I have the MDX, and prefer the Acura. |
Yes I have two carseats! |
I have an A4 and a 6 foot tall husband with one carseat (2nd is coming) so it feels small for us. Our current Audi has been no problem when we needed repair. |
|
I have a q7 prestige and rdx.
2 kids in booster seats now, was fine when in car seats. The rdx is like a go cart and fun to drive but it had a bad run of an electrical issue for like a year that the dealer could not figure out. Eventually they did but the car would not start 5-6 times and we almost got rid of it. The Audi tech is fun, great ride. We do a lot of city driving and rdx goes through gas faster than our (bigger) Audi. I like Audi over Acura in general, but both are solid cars. |
| I drove a Q5 for 9 years and now have the RDX. The Q5 is a much better ride, much quieter interior, and had a lot of little thoughtful touches (lights, useful side pockets on doors and in trunk, etc.) that I miss. It also boosted the front seat higher. I feel like I'm sitting in the hole in the RDX. I'm hoping the eventual (hopefully lower) repair costs on the RDX make it worthwhile but right now I miss the Q5. Fwiw, I had two Britax Marathons in the backseat of my Q5 with no issues. |
OP here, Thanks for the post! One of my carseats will be an infant, and a PP made me do some research which says that the infant is tighter (it was a C rating from Cars.com) and the convertible is easier, rear or forward. My husband is 6 feet tall and he moves the seat back a lot. One of my main motivations for a new car is to make it more comfortable for him. We share a car so we are always switching sides and moving the front seats. |
| neither...both trash...but if you must, go with the RDX. |
| RDX is pretty bad. |
|
On my second Q5 (3.2 and now a 3T). Love the Q5!
Have never been in an RDX, so no comment there. RE pp comments on A4, that car is tiny (Rockville Audi provides Audi loaners so I've driven quite a few of the models) and I am not tall. |
| OP here, we drove the RDX and loved it! It is so much better than the Q5 but that was from 20 minutes in each. |
| Do you not ever travel, OP? I cannot imagine a car this size being our only car. I'd get something bigger than both. |
Yes we travel but not by car. We don't commute. Seems like a huge waste to get a big car for the few times a year we "travel". The furthest we drive is 2 hours away to see my in laws. |
| We have a 2019 RDX and are very happy with it. Our kids are teens though. We need a second car and can’t figure out what to get because we like it so much. |
| If it's not a Lexus you might as well just buy a Chevy. |
