CM and TTC

Anonymous

so if we are TTC, it's really hard to judge ovulation based on CM consistency, because (sorry if TMI) but having unprotected
sex, and trying to keep the semen inside, means im sort of dripping into the next day or so ... which means i cant
tell if i have the right CM or it's just semen... (since "egg white" CM and semen are similar!) Any thoughts?

You are right, it is difficult. Its better to judge ovulation based on a combination of basal temperature, opk tests and CM consistency...

Some of the fertility tracking websites like Fertility Friend do a better job explaining the differences between CM and semen...

Good luck!

I recommend charting your BBT. I agree it's hard to check CM and tell the difference from semen.

Supposedly eggwhite CM will stay in a blob if you drop it in water but semen will dissolve right away. However, I don't find that to be a helpful test b/c I don't usually have enough to drop it in a glass of water, and even if I did, that's not the most convenient thing to do in the restroom at work!

I try to track CM, but I think temps are the most reliable IF you can take them consistently every morning.

Also, checking cervix position might help.
