| I kept my DD home today to avoid this "team building exercise." I know two other families who did the same. Anyone else? |
|
What is it? Do they do this at every MS?
I know my kids MS does ‘Community Circle’ and the kids HATE it. |
| I'm not sure what it is. The permission slip said it could lead to dismemberment and death. : ) Can't remember the verbiage but it was extreme. Not sure why we have to subject our kids to danger to promote "team building." Isn't that what outdoor ed is for? |
Why? |
I didn't want to make a stink about not giving permission. It was easier just to let her stay home. |
Why did you want to not give permission? |
What's the problem with the activity that you wouldn't let her go? |
| what is the activity?? |
What in the world? I would have kept my kid home also. They should at least give parents more info about what it entails. O’d Like to hear back from someone who attended! |
| Was it like a ropes course or something? OMG - land the frickin' helicopter already. |
That was going to be my guess. Ropes course. Liability waivers are always over the top for that kind of stuff. Trampoline park, ropes course, etc. |
| OP, that's just pathetic. When you drive Aiden and Claire to soccer practice and violin lessons, you are risking death and dismemberment. |
|
Not in MCPS, but I remember the waiver form we had to sign for our school's teambuilding seemed to say proceed at your own risk and we're not responsible for your kids. I understand why a parent wouldn't feel comfortable sending their child to these things. Pretty sure my parents wouldn't have sent me if they read these waiver forms in the 1980's!
|
Sounds like they’re not telling parents what it is? |
Nah. It’s pathetic if they don’t tell parents what it is. I would send my kid if they tell me it’s a ropes course. If they send home an ambiguous permission slip, i’d also just keep my kid home. |
