BRYC ECNL

I noticed BRYC isn’t really talked about here.

what age does ECNL start for them?

Best ECNL in my area besides BRYC would be... ?

why are they not talked about much? Is that a good thing or bad?

ECNL for girls:
McLean
Loudoun
then BRYC

Nobody cares about BRYC - they don't go to nationals, aren't ranked etc etc etc

BRYC was ranked a "top 25" ECNL club based on their records last season ... so in the top 25% of all ECNL clubs nationwide (there are 96 at last count).

Wow, you sound like an asshole.

Very average. Their best team is their 03 team, and that team sent having the best year either.

BRYC is lucky to be in ECNL only VDA and Mclean should be in ECNL if you ask me

All ECNL teams are at least good. There are only a few that are truly great. Often only one team per club. The standings are available on the ECNL website.

Biggest problem seems to be a leadership void created as some of their more senior coaches retired over the past few years, and Larry Best moved to the Spirit.

Not sure that Larry was adding much to the club before he left, but he was known commodity which provided credibility. Younger coaches will take some seasoning, but unless a coach like JA is allowed to mentor and guide these young coaches (some of which may not take to taking direction anyway), I'm not sure where the direction will come from.

Three kids (D/S/S) played for BRYC. After a few years, one stopped playing soccer, one left for a neighboring club, and the other eventually did the same (transferred to a neighboring club). The two that transferred played CCL and ECNL, as well as HS soccer.

With the youngest playing one more year next year (2020-2021) and likely to play collegiate soccer, I offer FWIW:

1. Accept that there really is little difference between ECNL and other leagues WRT player development. The development occurs mainly through the club and augmented by what opportunities (individual training, camps, etc.) you provide your child.

2. Choose the club that fits your child and your family best. By fit consider development program, coaching, facilities, players, families, cost, travel time, etc.

3. Recognize ECNL requires a lot more money and a lot more time than the other leagues (and then seriously ask yourself is the juice really worth the squeeze?)

4. Support your child's enjoyment of the sport; this is why we say "play soccer." The likelihood that your kid will go onto collegiate soccer (esp. D1) or pro soccer is very, very, very low whether she/he plays ECNL or not.

With nearly a decade of experience, I found many good things about BRYC and several not so good things. The latter helped steer my sons to other clubs.

I would disagree with your #1. The speed of play in ECNL or DA just cannot be duplicated in any of the other local leagues. Being surrounded by elite players will enhance development even under the same training plan.
