| Or does my freshman have a wild imagination? |
| It’s closed. Your tuition money at work. Hope Maryland wins |
| They aren’t supposed to have classes after noon on campus (recommended to have online learning options). Most employees are teleworking but it’s not “closed”. It’s just the parking and traffic issue with the football game. |
|
PP is right. Not closed. Learning still happening. And online classes are not uncommon in many departments.
Of course, OP should remember that the football program already uses millions in state and university resources, starting with the coach’s salary and potential bonuses. But hey, at least he hasn’t killed a player yet. https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/terps/bs-sp-locksley-maryland-football-contract-1213-story.html |
| Religious Holiday |
| Closed only in the afternoon. |
If the religion is football. |
| Do we think traffic on the beltway will be affected during rush? |
| I went to VT and when we had Thursday night games, they'd recommend canceling classes after noon (to ease traffic/parking). But it was up to the professor. I had one professor who was adamantly opposed to this, and our class started at noon or so. She held class and took roll. I remember being annoyed, because my friends were all at a tailgate already, but also she was right in the long run.... |

I don't recall having many (any) classes after noon on fridays anyhow (in the time before online learning), so is this really an issue? Not even a football fan, but sheesh.
Do question why they need to clear lots 8 hours ahead of game time, but I guess it takes a while. |
Football is a religious experience for some. |
| DD is having lab from 8 till 11am, so I had no idea afternoon is canceled? |
| Who takes Friday classes? Geez talk about not enjoying your college experience. |
| My DD had no classes. 10am cancelled. |
| The parking lot where most TAs have parking passes closes, so any class led by a grad student is going to be canceled so they can leave campus. |
