VHC childbirth/infant skills/breastfeeding classes

Anyone taken any of these recently? Would you recommend them for a FTM?

We did the "childbirth express" class and it was semi-useful. I learned some good breathing techniques that got me through the time period before I got my epidural! It also includes the hospital tour, which was honestly the most useful part (although that's free).

Forgot to add that several friends did the breastfeeding class and said it was extremely helpful. I wish I'd done that one, too.

Oh great reminder thank you! I used to attend the breastfeeding group there, and everyone talked about infant skills class and I thought “well dang, wish I had known about that.” I should take that as a refresher with a newborn.

But the classes and groups at VHC are great.

We did the "express" class 4 years ago and I was 36 or 37 weeks at the time. We got all sorts of stares from all the 20 week Moms but when I delivered at 39 weeks everything was fresh and I didn't have to take notes that I never would have looked over while faced with multiple decisions about my not planned induction. I hadn't researched anything about inductions because I thought I'd never be in that situation, but boy was I glad to have taken the class so I had a very basic understanding of the process, my options, and the outcomes when I was in L&D.

Haha this was me, too... 38 weeks and the next closest behind me was 24 weeks. The instructor said, "Well we better hurry this up then!"
