Vaginal Progesterone- do you have to clean out your vag every few days of the residue?

Anonymous
For those who are doing vaginal progesterone- do you “clean out” your vagina of the prometrium residue or is that unnecessary?

I am confused why would you clean it out? It should just be absorbed into your body.

No, the organ does the job itself, just wipe and shower normally.

+1. Just wear pantyliners while you’re using them.

Lol, no. Progesterone goo is a thing. OP, wear liners or period panties (if you don't mind them getting gunked up) and clean normally. If you don't usually clean inside your labia (not inside your vagina), then maybe do that. I've been on vaginal progesterone for 6 of the last 9 cycles and am SICK TO DEATH of it. Oh well.

+2. Your body does it for you. Wear liners.

Have the people responding used crinone? You absolutely have to clean it out. My RE told me that before I even started using it. She said in the shower every few days.

I was going to say the same. 9 cycles of crinone here (6 IUIs, 3 FETs). That stuff was the worst. You absolutely must clean it out, or it builds up over time.

Thanks. OP here. I knew this about Crinone so that’s why I asked if you have to do the same for the regular progesterone pills when inserting those vaginally. Consensus seems to be no for pills and yes for crinone?

I used endometrin (pills) and did not clean it out.
It did cause some cervical irritation with pinkish/red discharge at around 7 weeks, which scared the bejeepers out of me.
