entertaining a 1 year old on a cross country flight!

Anonymous
Looking for suggestions to entertain my 1 year old (13 months) on a flight to the west coast.

Hoping he will sleep for much of it but I thought I'd buy some new things to entertain him???

He loves ripping up magazines, so we'll do that. Other suggestions for things that can kill 10 minutes at a time?

Stickers. Any stickers. Let him take them off and put them on you, himself, etc.

A puppet - play peek-a-boo with it.

Lift the flap books (this one has had loads of use in our house:

Definitely avoid a dvd player unless you know for certain it won't induce motion sickness. Mine is usually fine in a car, even for long rides, but the second you turn on a DVD, he'll start vomiting. We learned this the hard way on an airplane.

Slinkys are also a good idea.

Actually, concentrating on anything can induce motion sickness if you're prone.
