I live in eastern MoCo near Glenmont and have seen a rise in the number of patrol cars since the old chief left, and Jones has been in charge. It's a welcome sight, and the area needs a more visible police force.

He’s solid because he’s not a yes man and he’s a consummate law enforcement professional. He’s strong enough to handle a union that cares solely for ensuring their police survive disciplinary proceedings. So if you want an accountable police force, you need a strong Chief in this county.

I know there’s a small group of folks in TP/SS who hate police in general, as they’ve been vocal both in Elrich’s office and on the Council. But objectively speaking, this police department is one of the best in the nation. The things liberals hate (and I’m a liberal, but I know the law) stem from the state law that codifies the Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights and several Supreme Court decisions on the use of force. There isn’t much any local police department can do to change federal law. Might have some luck on the LEOBR, though.

They actually do. One officer per car means they can cover more area and respond more quickly than if they had two officers per car.

Caught a car thief this week who had been stealing all over eastern MoCo, Rockville and Bethesda for at least two years.

A lot of the local crime in my area is committed by younger people who are used to not seeing police around.
