ISO Cotton sports bras / lightly padded bralettes

Anonymous
My 12-yr old has been wearing Hanna Andersson's cotton bralettes (they are lightly padded) but wants something that doesn't look too kiddie. I can't seem to find bralettes or sports bras that are made of cotton and lightly padded or lined. Any suggestions?

We’re not quite at a padded bra stage, but Cosabella seems to have nice ones for tweens.

(My 11-year-old wears Altheta girl, which are not padded.)

Kohls and target (at least the ones near me) had a decent selection.

Actually, some of the Athleta ones are lined. Just not padded.

A 12 year old is a kid! Stop letting a child look like an 18 year old. This won’t end well years from now.

Agree, why would any parent want a child to look or act as an older teen. A 12 year old has no idea what’s right for themselves when it comes to these situations, they’re simply trying to be popular and standout for older boys. What could possibly go wrong!

A good amount of my 12 year olds friends are in real bras and are fully developed. They are in 7th grade(middle school) and can choose their own child. If I were OP I’d be happy my daughter was coming to me to ask about bras! Most Girls develop big time between 11-14. I’m not sure what PPs are talking about. There is an online store called Yelloberry
They are great for the transition years. A little $$ But you can find them on amazon and sometime other stores like target.

I second Yellowberry.

Do those commenting about making 12 year old look grown up have a tween girl? Do you have any idea why they need something lined or with light padding?

My 12 year old also wears padded, regular bras. I don't know who these people are responding to this forum, must not have 12 year olds. We had success at Target (Alexandria) with Jockey. There's a fitting room very close to the bra section. We also bought a few padded sports bras there, Target brand.

Jockey on-line may also work, I get a ton of 25% coupons in mail.

Seriously—my 12 year old definitely needs a real bra! She's uncomfortable, both socially and physically, without good support and coverage.

I just bought her a nice shaped, underwire-free bra by Hanes at Target. Not padded enough to add a size or push anything up, but enough that she's not self-conscious. And the hooks mean that she can adjust the band so that it sits properly, unlike the pullover bralettes she's been wearing.

That said, we've also had good luck at Kohls, which I think has a larger selection of bras for tweens/teens.

We had good luck at Justice back in the day.
