| We have always had a libido disparity but lately it's really bad. Like once a month and from what I can tell my wife has no interest ever. She is 45 (I am 43, so there is an age Gap too). Is this the start of menopause and the big drop in her desire? |
| However did you survive a massive two year age gap? |
| Doubt it |
| But ask HER |
|
You are aware that women still have sex after menopause, right? Menopause and no sex are not necessarily one in the same thing.
I'm not sure what is going on with your wife. You should ask her! |

The shift in hormones can do a number on you. I am still in perimenopause at 50, and there are times where I just want to jump anything that moves and other times where I couldn't care less. If she's still on hormonal birth control, that messes with a lot of women's libido anyway.
Maybe get snipped, throw away the pill, and see what happens. |
|
It happened the last Tuesday in August at 3:17 am.
Too bad you missed the last opportunity. |
| OP here, she isn't on pills, I am snipped. Sorry, was trying to be brief, I know sex doesn't end for good but from what I have read many women find their libido gone. Is this the age? Do I even ask? I am clueless, go easy on me |

Menopause occurs between 45 and 55 for most women, but can occur anywhere from mid-30s to mid-60s for a few women.
Libido does change for some women but not always in the same way. Some women experience a decrease. Some women experience an increase. There's no way for you to tell what is going on with your wife. You should talk to her about it. |
45 would be early, but....not unusual. How often do you guys talk about your intimacy? |
I am 52 and still wanting it regularly and love it so I’d say there is no age. Are you good at it? Did you always make sure that she had a good time? My DH always did - so why would I want to stop? It’s previous time together. |
| I had a complete hysterectomy at 37. I’m way post menopausal. I am 53 and still love sex! Menopause didn’t affect my sex life at all. If anything it’s better because- no period! |
That is actually a relatively big gap men to women. Most men age 43 are married to women 34-41 so his wife is several years ahead of his peers, slowing down and losing libido. |
Citation for this, please? I have not found this to be true among my friends. Most are within a couple years of each other, and about even with the man or the woman being the elder of the two. A lot of my friends met when they were both in college or graduate school together, so that is why their ages are similar. |
I see this too but maybe this is part of the libido gap problem. None of my friends in second marriage with younger wives complain about lack of sex, almost all of my friends who married same age women do. Perhaps a good age gap would solve this, and reduce cheating |
